So Northern Ireland is not part of Britain, but the rest of Ireland is? I get that area confused all the time also. So what is Great Britain? The UK? British Isles? etc.....
This isn't "geography" per se. It is political divisions (which might be called "political geography").
Op meant cartography not geography and is hinting at learning some history.
GB is the United Kingdom. UK consists of Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland. The Republic of Ireland or the free Ireland is an indepedent country as of the early 1920s.

Neither is Scotland, or Japan for that matter.
Is Britain the same as Great Britain?
