I'm a hobby jogger who's looking to run 5:30-5:36 for the 1600. What would you guys say is the minimum 800 needed to make this possible.
My current 1600 pr is 5:57, and 800 is 2:42; I'm sure I'm in much better shape than these times though as I just did some reps today and started with 4x200 in 35 average and the pace felt relatively comfortable (didnt feel like a semi sprint like it used to).
Took 2 minutes rest after the last 200 rep and ran 400 at what I felt would be 800m pace and ran 1:12.95, was tired but felt like I could go for another 150m-200m at that pace. I figure if I'm fresh I could come through 400 in 1:12 and run a 1:17 or something to sneak under 2:30 for 800.
