Aug 21 the path of a full eclipse of the sun will cross the U.S. I'm wondering if it is worth driving hundreds of miles to see it. Anyone getting exciting about the upcoming eclipse?

It is unusual, I plan on driving to Casper, WY or Scottsbluff, NE. I will be 50 in August and have seen one near total eclipse. Probably will not see another in my lifetime.
There's nothing I can say. I HAVE seen a total eclipse of the heart.
Currently I'm planning on driving about 3 hours to get into the path of totality.
Ask this question again in 2024 and I might be able to say I've seen two in the past 7 years.
Saw an annular eclipse in the early 90s, but I guess that isn't as cool as total.

You may plan on it, but it will be the world's biggest traffic jam. That 3 hours will be a day's drive. People are underestimating the mayhem for this event.
I've got a spot booked in totality. Booked it a year in advance. The wild card will be clouds. If it clouds over, everyone will jam the interstates chasing it.

1992, Hawaii. Aloha.
Saw the first half of a total eclipse, went blind, and missed the rest.
No, but I look forward to a full lunar eclipse when the sun passes between the earth and the moon.
Yeah.
I put my hand up and it fully eclipsed the sun from my field of vision.
When I switch channels away from Fox News and I can't see Trump any more I feel like the sun has gone away for ever and will never come back.
Even if you're in the path of the eclipse poor weather will likely prevent you from seeing it.
I think traffic is going to be nuts for the eclipse. Way too many people geeked out about it.
August 21, 2017 makes me very very nervous because
of the astrological chart of its passage. The southwest
USA will parallel the rainfall what is occurring
in the pacific northwest/calif.

Quand le deffaut du Soleil lors sera
Sur le plein iour le monstre sera veu:
Tout autrement on l'interpretera,

When the eclipse of the Sun will then be,
The monster will be seen in full day:
Quite otherwise will one interpret it,
High price unguarded: none will have foreseen it.
