Hi, there are no standards posted on the site for UCONN. I was wondering if anyone knew how they recruit or what they are looking for as far as 1600, 3200, and 5k are concerned.

Don't go to UCONN. The coach there is an absolute wanker. He doesn't know what he's doing.
Did you run for him? Elaborate
I'm starting to think the UCONN coach just posts here every few months posing as a recruit to see if he can figure out who says bad things about him.
I know of people who ran for him and said it was a terrible time.
I have seen no standards listed on site as well. Interested to see how coach recruits too.
Do teams actually post standards on the web?
What were their times like in HS? Were they on scholarship?
Run about 1:55-6, 4:25ish, or 9:30ish(less sure about that one) and they'll probably recruit you if you're interested
Don't run for Roy, horrible coach.
Coach Roy is the man don't listen to the haters
Collegiate runner from CT here. One of my closest friends from high school (4:20 HS mile PR) quit the UCONN team halfway through his freshman year. According to him, the treatment by the coaching staff was so poor it ruined his love for the sport entirely. He also recalls how poorly the coaches handled recruiting, especially with walk ons, which he was. Haven't even read this thread yet but I'm sure it's already filled with similar stories. Don't sell yourself short.
1:54, 4:25 and 9:30 are about the standards to get recruited but you'll need to be faster for a scholarship. The program isn't for everyone but if you love the sport and are serious about improving and being apart of a competitive team atmosphere you can be successful.
There are better places in the region to go. Don't be surprised if you don't get contacted. Walk on, work your ass off and then get told you're not wanted. If you are going to go to UCONN it better be strictly for the education.
There are plenty of good coaches in the area depending on what kind of runner you are...UCONN doesn't have one of them. They train you to not run bad...not better just not bad. They will constantly remind you that you are replaceable and they seek no individual growth. So yes, some studs can do well but without the ability to do well no matter what the coaching style is, good luck
