First I want to note, I've never seen this story before and I am only going off what I read in the article, I would love to hear the girls side of the story as well as the college's side.
Now, this is unbelievably frustrating, and is probably one of the biggest reasons as to why females do not come out about being sexually assaulted, because they fear being called a liar by society. People that create rape accusations that didn't happen, actively hurt the chances other actual rape victims will come out about it. I hope to God this girl and this college gets sued out of their @sses and the guy gets serious $$$ along with the college officials responsible for pushing this through (and possibly the girl) getting jail time.
If I were looking at colleges and saw this story about Allegehny, I would cross it off in a heartbeat, as should anyone. All thy were doing was just seizing the opportunity to quickly "find" a rapist on campus to show their strength against rape and make it feel like a "safer" campus. It honestly seems like the only 100% safe way to ensure you won't be accused of sexual assault is to have both people sign, date and write down the time on a waiver form, stating that they gave consent, and did not say no at any point.
This guy also seems like a d!ckhead for not responding to the girl, but he did nothing illegal.
