45 year old male, goal: 2:32 Boston Marathon
A good, solid week for me with a mileage peak and thus a little less intensity.
M - 11 easy
Tu - 10 easy
W - 2 up; 3 miles at tempo pace (5:23 avg); 3:00 rest; 3 miles at tempo pace (5:24 average (did not check splits - went off of feel)); 3:00 rest; 2 miles at tempo pace (5:27 average); 2 down
Th - 11 easy
F - 20 in the hills, attacking hills for 1 mile late in run
Sa - 13 easy
Su 13 easy
90 miles total
The workout on Wednesday was in 20 mph winds, so I thought it was a pretty good effort, despite being a little slower than my more recent tempo workouts.
Long run felt good, but felt some twinges in my calves at 19 mile mark.
6 weeks until I start the taper for Boston, so I am starting to get a little anxious that I just haven't done enough good workouts. I know that this is how everyone always feels, and I have some good work coming up over the next few weeks, but it still sucks to feel that way. Knowing I am in about 15:50 5k shape right now when I ran a 15:28 5k at this point in the training cycle for my last marathon isn't helping me feel better about that either.
Still, time to keep on keeping on and to focus on what is in front of me and get in good work each week for the next month and a half.
