When will this guy get his gold taken away? Run a 1200 almost equivalent to the 1500m WR in training, then go on and run 2 600s at the same pace?

Never. Mak Daddy Makhloufi the Algerian warrior is clean. He's obviously super fit you fool.

Bang on, put it this way he would only have to do another lap at 58s roughly to break the world mile record. He is basically running well under 3:30 in training.
Algeria has probably bribed the IAAF.
Conversion factor from 1200-1500 is 1.251
2:44.65 is a 3:28.48 1500
Your conversion works out at 3:25:98.

Come on use your brains. 2:45 1200m is 3:26 pace. Nobody said he could keep going at the same pace to 1500m or a mile.
In terms of what a 2:45 1200 is worth for 1500 it's around 3:31. So that time trial predicts he could run 3:31 for a full 1500m. We know he can run 3:28 so was able to do those 600s after.
He ran it as a pure time trial, and this was shown in the fact it says on the page he was fatigued after and struggled in the 600ms.
Those 600s are actually shit. The kind of times a 1:50 runner can hit in training.
Have you read the article? He took a 12 minute rest and still "only" maintained pace for half the distance, which tell us that the 1200m was clearly an all out effort.
He has run 3:28 high, of course he can run 80% of the distance near world record pace.
Most of us would be able to run near our 1500m pb for 3 laps. The difference is that the guy does it a lot faster.

Agreed - had a HS kid a couple of years ago do a 1000 (2.29) 10min rec, then 600 (1.24) 5min rec, then 400 in 55. Ran 3.45 (1500) and sub-1.48 (800). So the 1k was a TT at 1500m pace. Later in season ran a 1200 at 3.00 (3.45 pace). All done completely solo as well. So it is not surprising that Makdaddy can do this at his PR paces, or slightly faster. He seems to like to do this high quality stuff - not for everyone, but works for him. He gets this from Aden, who is known for his quality work with 7 minutes recovery. Kills some (Kaki comes to mind), while others can thrive.
He didn't get it from Aden, but we can see what you're trying to do there. Shove off puto.
I calculate 3:25.81 as 1500m equivalent with no slowdown.
think about your own logic here. You say that your kid could do 1200 at his pr 1500m pace and then you dismiss the significance of this workout for Makhloufi. But then if that is the case, then the workout (which he finished well, able to go on, according to Scully) indicates that he was in shape to run sub 3:26.
How many 2:44 1200s have ever been run in any conditions?
By yourself in training is ridiculous, anyone who says otherwise is a moron. If I could do 1:44 for 800m in training I would do about 1:37 on race day. The same goes for 2:44 for 1200m.
This thread should really be about what Makh is taking.

He follows a bike. That reduces the drag on him considerably and provides a perfect pacemaker, much better than a pacemaker in a diamond league. 1:44 with a rolling start following a bike closely all the way round shows he can run 1:42 on race day.
2:45 1200m, probably rolling start also, probably following a bike is a standard 3:30 guy time trial. He was tired afterwards. After 12 minutes of recovery (a year for elites) he could only manage 600s in a pace that I would give to 1:48/1:49 guys.
It's just 3 55s laps. If you want to see crazy, read this:
10 x 400m between 53-54 seconds with only 30 seconds recovery
10 x 300m in 35-36 seconds
El G.
This thread is meaningless without JAKIR.
Pure insanity.
I love how some random knob on a message board is playing down the workout as "just 55 sec laps". That's classic.
Frustrating to read the article and have the writer complain about how people run too much mileage to be good, using Makhloufi as evidence. Dopers do indeed ruin training theory.
