I was tracking and timing myself while on a series of trails last week. I noticed that it felt so easy and natural. I mean It was an easy run and I came through the 5k mark in about 24:59. But still I never feel this on a track. I just feel slow on a track. I don't know if it's the terrain and if it was really flat.
I'll be lucky if I can break 7 for the 1600 and 3:30 for the 800 on the track
Based on your running times, you should just focus on running more miles and spend less time dwelling over stride rate or your track times. You probably just started running for less than a year is my guess, or you run about 10 miles or less a week. You should simply focus on just running more miles. If you work up to 30mpw from now until fall you'll be amazed how much faster you'll get at your age. Rushing things is a great way to hurt yourself so be smart about it. All too often 14 year old kids think they're superman and get an overuse injury. Good luck.
