I'm a soccer player but recently I've been selected for my high school's running team (this might sound strange but we don't train together or get coached by someone). I've been running 2 times per week for about 2 years to improve my endurance for soccer but I've never done any race specific training. However, I've run some races. My last was a 2.5k which I ran in 8:20 (5:22/mile pace). Now I've a 2 mile race coming op in 3,5 months and I was wondering how I could train for this optimally while still playing soccer. I've soccer practise on tuesdays and thursday and a match on saturday, which leave mondays, wednesdays and sundays as my running days (I didn't include friday because running the day before a match doesn't seem like a good idea to me). What type of training runs would you guys recommed me to do on those days? Thanks in advance.
