I'm 53 and I know what this is like so I should be able to get close. If you don't ever sprint, like for basketball or on your weekly runs- and if you ran full effort for the 400m, trying to minimize your time- I'll say 79 seconds.
DNF
Pulled muscle at 237 meters.
Local high school girls laughed.
And you thought no one was watching.

run 20mi/wk slow for the past 2 years, with a speed check about once a month.
800m 2:30 is easy. 2:24 isn't easy, but I could go another 4-600m at that pace.
400m: 72 is way easy
My 12.5mph treadmill doesn't go any faster than that.
But I think if I every went to a track to time trial a 400m, which would be a risky thing to do, I would either a) pull a hamstring, or b) run about 62 sec.
Seems I'm running more quality than OP. So I predict....

tmill speed don't count.
Before you brag about running some incredible time double check to make sure that the middle school track is actually 400 meters.
I moved to a new town about thirty years ago and went to a local middle school track to do some 400's. I was blown away by how fast my times were. Turned out the to be an under-sized track.

Well, if the op is being completely honest, then he has done NO fast running in a long time. Not any. This is going to be much harder than it may seem.
It would be helpful for us to know his 400m pr from back in the day rather than his 1500m. What kind of runner was he? He could have been more a speed based runner who moved up. He also might've decently ran the 800 and even 4x4. Or he could have been more an endurance guy who also ran comparatively decently in the 3k and even xc.
I predict 82 if he was a more endurance based 1500m runner.
I predict 78 if he had decent natural speed back then.
Either way, I bet it shocked him how hard it was.
If he has forgotten to mention the weekly basketball games, or that he picks it up the last 400m of his 9min pace runs then it's a different story.

You are correct !
We've all been duped ; or this is clickbait by the Brojos .
Or is It gonna take the length of the Henry Rono thread to find out how he fast ran around the track with his sauna buddy from the YMCA ?
