It is unfortunate that this may inconvenience people who want to jog, but there are much more important and consequential things that are prevented with this temporary ban. It is really selfish that people are putting their ability to leisurely travel or move to new places above the ability of others' safety and lives. Not getting to move to a new place is not abuse or oppression. It is just you not being able to do what you want to do. Suck it up and recognize that other people have concerns too that may be more important.

Bullshit. There's no "safety" issue here, as has been explained repeatedly by anyone who knows anything about our immigration system. This order is just a way for Trump, Bannon, et al. to engage in baseless fearmongering and meaningless security theater. Who gives a crap about the innocent people who are harmed along the way, right?

And this is what the progressive-left does; they de-individualize the fact/stat (only x% of this group actually commit YZ crime) to legitamize the reality that they are accepting the probability of an adverse event and that you all should just be happy that there's a large chance that it will be one of you fellow americans and not you that gets the adverse action.

Unfortunately, you are exactly wrong again. This is not a surprise.
You do not know how to spell the word "legitimize".
This is because your brain is stuck in your descending colon.
You should try to move your brain from side to side and jump up and down at the same time to see if you can wiggle it loose.
Did it wiggle loose?
Answer:
It is still stuck.
I am sorry about that.
Have a nice day.

1) Not letting people immigrate or travel here is not harming them. It is not letting them have their way.
2) It is about several issues. Yes, safety is one of those issues. I know plenty about our immigration system and know that immigrants (illegal and illegal) have varying degrees of issues depe ding on where they come from. Safety is certainly one of those issues. The people who you keep repeatedly listening to are apparently not telling you the truth. Do you really think all immigrants are 100% infallible and law abiding and support American values?
Remember the Bowling Green Massacre! Never again!
Since 9/11, the number of people killed by terrorist attacks in America by immigrants from the seven banned countries. ZERO. Guess that vetting system is working. How do you improve on ZERO?? This is not about safety. It's about Bannon's propaganda ministry going into overdrive.

Do facts even matter anymore (https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2017/01/trump-immigration-ban-terrorism/514361/)? This is just an attempt for the Trump administration to continue to play on racial biases/fears.
Also, below is a real headline. The US bans immigrants from countries that pose zero threat and we want to make it easier for people who have mental health conditions to buy guns (http://thehill.com/regulation/317634-house-republicans-block-obama-era-gun-rule). I'm more scared of things like this because they pose real danger.

Don't let the facts slap you in the face my right leaning friends. Zero murders at the hands of immigrants from the stated countries, and how many have been killed at the hands of people who have mental illnesses? But lets not look at facts, lets just create our own set of rules as we go. . .
Admins really gonna leave "Ahmad" unchanged in the title?

0/10. There are no facts/stats in the post.
Who are you to judge who is most affected by the ban?

Nothing to do with safety. Just fear mongering and headline grabbing. Too bad it backfired so badly to just make Trump look even more incompetent.
Only four more years.

This question is the wrong question.
Proper vetting is a solution to your incredulity. Major travel bans are an overarching waste of time and energy.

Dictionary definition fascism. You want your human right to freedom of movement? If you're a muslim, too bad! "Suck it up".
The good of the state is paramount to the liberties of individuals, right?
While I agree that jogging is a selfish thing to do, that it may be inefficient to travel all over the world just to train, that safety and lives are more important, than jogging, little of this applies to Mo Ahmed.
He is not a hobby jogger but professional athlete who is getting compensated to run/race. Thus his ability to conduct his work may be impacted by this travel ban. Maybe not so much just to travel back and forth in and out of the country for training, but more so for competitions. Yes I agree he can likely train where he is now without travel.
If you read the article he is very concerned about how this may impact his brother. That is real for him, but since this is primarily a running forum I will not get into that.
I agree that safety and life and death matters are important, and they are more important than the ability of runners to freely engage in their profession.
But this travel ban will have minimal impact on safety and life and death matters. It has created more conflict than it will resolve, and has resulted in more worldwide division. It will be used as fuel by those who disagree with and oppose the U.S.
Long term the ban will result in more harm than good.
