Looks like Casey Clinger verbally committed to BYU this evening.

Maybe he's mormon and likes the idea of being a 25 year old senior racing 22 year olds.
Why would this be surprising? He is from American Fork, UT and is most likely Mormon, so I would expect BYU to be his choice. I'm surprised that this choice would surprise anyone?

Yeah and they have quality education too unlike Oregon.
What about his teammates?
It sounded like either way he was gonna serve an LDS mission and take 2 years off. BYU is super close to home for him too, plus his teammates are going there.

What do you mean? From a running side BYU is one of the top programs in the nation and has an amazing coach. Choosing where you want to run in college is not always about choosing the biggest flashiest school.I like this choice a lot, with Patrick Parker committing there and Connor Mantz coming back from his mission trip this will be the team to beat in about 3 years or so.

Is he "bitter" like whazzhisname described me?
I would say Ed Eyestone would be a good reason to go there and I'm sure Jared Ward making the US Olympic Marathon team might have helped too.
Oh BYU is excellent! I was just curious what his deciding factors we're, that makes way more sense now.
Uh, im pretty sure BYU has been in the top 10 at nationals like 6 times since ED Eyestone took over.... and has made it to NCAA's every year. building off what they did in 2016, Clinger will be big in helping them fight for a win.
Refreshing to see a top runner not automatically go to Oregon.
And the students and BYU campus are very clean.
