Hello,
Next april it will be two years since I’ve been on running. But before running I played football (i mean the European version of the word, not soccer/rubgy) for almost 10 years. Well, because of that I developed strong legs with a lot of muscle mass in the calfs and upper leg parts. But when I look at the traditional elite distance runner, and I don’t mean only the Africans, they have slim legs with not much muscle mass.
I love distance running and I run a 2:40 TCS Amsterdam Marathon last year. But I keep wondering if losing part of muscle mass in my legs would get me faster and more economical on distance running? Even if that means more injury prone because of less muscle?!! I would like to receive some expert advice on this question, and if the answer is “yesâ€, what should I do to lose some muscle mass the right way, get more lighter and in better condition for success on distance running.
Best Regards
