Why do so many pro teams think they have to replace their stadiums as soon as the paint dries?

The owners say, "WE NEED MORE LUXARY BOXES!!!!!!"

And as long as the taxpayers keep agreeing to help foot the bill, from an owner's standpoint, why not? If taxpayers agreed to help finance a newer, nicer house for you, would you turn it down?
I do wish more voters would tell team owners to stick it when they asked for new stadiums. If they threaten to move, tell them, " go ahead."
Because politicians are craven and people are effin' STUPID. There is zero economic benefit to this garbage either, it's pure corporate welfare.
This is reason #153 why only simps, retards and jock sniffing sycophants support professional football.
Why would you want to keep playing in the Georgia Dome when you can have a stadium like this:
So, after the Falcons win the Super Bowl they can show off their Mercedes-Benz venue to the rest of the World. Besides, if Trump wanted to attend a Falcon's home game, you wouldn't expect a Billionaire to have to sit in the old, outdated Georgia Dome, now would you? 😄

Baseball went thru the "threaten to move, tell them to go ahead" bluff in the late 1980's. Tampa-St. Pete built a stadium for baseball that some major league teams used as leverage for their home city to either build a new stadium or lose a team that's played every single home game in that city. The cities/taxpayers caved at the last minute. Link below.

Maybe they should use quick drying paint with this next one.
One correction: it's rare the TAXPAYERS cave; when these subsidies are put to voter referendum, they're usually-- and correctly-- turned down.
The trick is to get it passed without referendum and hope the lies lies lies lies, propaganda and idiot "sentiment", along with the general non-engagement in local politics, allows everyone to get away with it.
Q: How did professional sports franchises exist for DECADES, often many decades, without such public financing previously? Ans weren't the media revenues much less then also?

From ticket sales, concessions, in park advertising, parking? radio? One thing I do know is most professional athletes before free agency and tv revenues started were working full time jobs during the off season. There was actually a time in pro sports where guys had to work during the off season.

You obviously have never been to the GA Dome. It's a dump.
Rush .. a huge NFL fan.. laid it out some years back. Luxury boxes are in the profit sharing model of the NFL. Whatever a team makes on the lux boxes the team keeps. So now it's a competition on who can get the most boxes because the difference in revenue is huge.

Ha! Last year, I attended a college game in a 75 year old stadium. Other fans around me were complaining that the place was a "dump". I thought it was cool to go to a stadium that had decades of history, even if it didn't have bells and whistles. It was a perfectly functional place to watch a game. Some fans are pampered babies. So they vote for tax increases to pay for unnecessary new stadiums.
I understand that luxury suites are were they make money, but as a common fan, I hate it. The new Cowboys stadium is a monstrosity. I hate that place. It's too big, too inconvenient to get into and out of, and WAY too expensive. The average fan has pretty much been priced out of the place. I'd take the old Texas Stadium over that boondoggle any day.

You probably live in a dump too.

First world problems. There are people literally starving to death, and we complain that a 25 year old stadium is a dump.

They could build a $60 million dollar like this Texas high school did.

Spectacular stadium for H.S. A far cry from the dump I played in back in the 70s...which looked like the stadium seen at the end of the "Breakfast Club" movie. 😅
And just when people thought nothing could top the Mercedes-Benz palace in Atlanta...here comes the new Raider stadium in Vegas. A projected 2 Billion dollar gem complete with a translucent dome:
