I did a beer mile with my running friends. Since I was bringing the bbq, and my designated driver was unavailable, I switched to a dairy mile. 4 pints (last one chocolate) 4 laps.
Last lap tougher than beer mile, because it's 64 ounces not just 48. The foam with the beer is tought, but the extra volume of liquid and its fatty nature. No burping foam, but lots of sloshing casein.
The worst part was recovery. With a beer mile, the burping and foam ends within 5 or 10 minutes, and the alcohol kicks in. With the milk--the suffering doesn't end. I would not consider myself lactose intolerant, but within a half hour, I was gassy and had diarrhea all afternoon. I thought the dairy mile was a healthier alternative that would allow me to safely drive home and enjoy my afternoon--but 9 hours later, I think I feel worse than I would have had I slammed 4 barley pops.
That sounds terrible. Should've opted for the root beer mile instead.
Just a short 5mi shakeout with a non-running friend for me today.
