Watching the White House press corp yesterday it's obvious why journalists are regarded on the same level as used car salesmen, lawyers, dog catchter's and abortion doctors....
Honestly, Are any of them ethical, unbiased, fair minded? Why does journalism attract the dregs? My assumption is that they live in a left wing bubble and only get feedback from each other.
Amazing how supposedly bright people are unable to think rationally and lack any introspection....
1) Journalists aren't regarded as those things by everyone, and I would even say not by most people. (and what's wrong with a dog catcher? helps protect the dog and innocent people).
2) Journalists perform a very important job. They are a check on power...the 4th estate. They go into war zones and other hostile territories, cover stories on mob bosses, gangs, and drug kingpins that put their lives in jeopardy, and many have died as a result. More respect is warranted.
3) Right wing gun advocates often say that their right to own a gun is a check on the government. This is silly of course, because the US government has weapons and procedures that can render you helpless or dead despite your AK-47. The PRESS though is a check on the government that can have equal pushback...as long as said government doesn't infringe on the rights of the press or try to undermine its integrity.
4) "The press" has helped uncover bad dealings of politicians from both major parties.
5) Journalists do not as a general rule create fake news, make up sources, etc. As in any industry, you will find a rogue person who does these things, but for the President or anyone else to call CNN "fake news" is bogus beyond belief. CNN, and other major media outlets own up to any mistakes. This President never does, and he lies on average 5.5 times a day publically.
6) If you are a Trump supporter, you may feel that the press is one-sided, but we are in a situation we have never been in before. The President of the United States is being investigated for possible collusion with Russia to affect our election. This is a huge story, and the truth must be uncovered. When the person being investigated (Trump) keeps doing all he can to obstruct, then it makes the smoke even thicker, so they are looking for the fire. The fire is there too, and Mueller knows where it is and what it is.
It will be interesting to see if Mueller will accept to be interviewed one day after this is all over. "When did you know that it was over for Trump?" -- that's the question I want to hear answered.
Mueller is coming.
The clown is done.
