Haiti has problems, as it has had more than its fair share of terrible things happen to it in recent times. However, I've been there, several times. Have you, or are you just spouting off knee-jerk, racist garbage?
I first went to Haiti after the earthquake with a group of people organized by a church to help rebuild key, needed buildings and other structures as simple as working public toilets in some cases. I stayed for almost a month. I met some of the most amazing people I have, or will ever meet, anywhere. Destitute families with nothing, who never acted depressed, bitter, or angry. Instead, they were always smiling, brave, and had positive outlook on life that I can only wish I had. The children were the most amazing. Beautiful, bright, inquisitive and polite kids who I would give something like a frisbee to, and they would play with it for hours, being able to forget their plight for a precious amount of time and just be happy to be alive. None of these people were criminals, drug addicts, thieves, or bad people. Yes, I'm sure there are bad people in Haiti as well as everywhere, but I absolutely did't see them.
Out of all the people I met, there wasn't a single one that I would hesitate to say would do everything they could to better their lives and find meaningful employment if given the opportunity to live in the USA. And they would give their all to make sure their children assimilated and loved their new home, and would call it their own.
I went back to Haiti a couple years later. For a vacation. That's right.... a vacation. Because it is beautiful, and so are the people. I wanted to visit those we helped, and see how they were getting along. In all cases, they had taken advantage of the help offered, and were leading productive lives. I consider many of them friends for life, I am extremely embarrassed by Trump's comments and boorish, vile, xenophobic behavior. I am also disappointed that so many people in the USA are willing to suspend common sense and decency just to "stick it to the libs." This has nothing to do with party. Nothing. But speaking of party, yours is getting smaller and smaller. The demographics are the writing on the wall, and the current president is simply rushing the inevitable.
