We all know what would have happened if Obama had been treated this way and had been run out of office. Violent revolution with destruction and death on a nationwide scale. Do any of you deny this?
Are any of you thinking about what might happen if Trump gets run out of office? Do you care?
Does it ever occur to you that it would be better to back off for the sake of the country?
No doubt, if Obama had been "run out of office" you would indeed have seen some really pissed off people -- and you probably would have seen riots in various urban areas. But note that Obama was attacked relentlessly by the fox news sorts, not to mention the upsurging tea party folks, the radio talking heads, etc. -- and yet how many retaliatory tweets or offensive one liners in speeches do you remember from his eight years in office? How many people did he fire or force to resign in the first six months of his presidency? As I recall, he stepped into office with the US military in two different shooting wars, with a true recession and a failed housing market -- how often did he lose his cool?
The point I'm making is that Obama was smart and politic enough to stay out of his own way. Conversely, Trump is by nature confrontational. His instinct is to attack. He practically begs people to respond in kind.
Certainly, Trump backers would be really upset if congress were to actually impeach him -- and that is why a republican house and senate won't impeach him unless they truly see no other way to make headway. Repos don't want to lose folks like you, so they won't go to impeachment until and unless they really feel they have a compelling case against him.
But when Trump continues to rant and rave in his inimitable petulant style, do you wonder that he evokes a strong response?
