Well he's Trump's son-in-law and they do everything secretly anyway. That's what they are accused of here.
So, Kushner should feel he has a free pass to straight up lie.
He doesn't even has to say "I don't recall".
He can definitively say nothing happened or make up alternative facts on the spot.
I'm afraid they may go full force lie now and pardon later, if need be.

there was a Russian intelligence officer in the room. With Jr, Kush and Manafort. Very likely he taped the conversation. And that goes for all this - if something happened between the Russians and the trumpers...the Russians know the truth and have evidence. They can deploy that as they wish, or hold it for secret leverage.
and also manafort...that guy has millions of reasons to rat out the trumpers. He could flip and testify against all the trumpers.
Plus inevitably these days there are email trails that could come to llight.
not so easy for Kushner to lie his way out. And he knows that Trump will choose Jr over him if it comes down to that.
