I don't want a tesla but at least they let you test drive an example of what you will be getting... thinking about the Jaguar all electric but I'll bet they offer the same situation as audi....
Hundreds of thousands of buyers put down $1000 to secure a place in line to buy a Tesla Model 3. At that time, none were available in the Tesla stores. So a ton of people did reserve a car without ever having seen one in person.
But now the other car companies are trying the same thing with their new EV's. Some have been quite successful. Porsche just announced that they were doubling their initial run on the Taycan because the got so many pre-orders. The car is not due to be out until the end of next year.
