Also, to any of you who still think that the House won't begin impeachment proceedings, you might want to re-think that. We now have a President who has been named in court filings as someone who committed two felonies...and, of course we aren't even CLOSE to done finding out all the bad stuff he has done.
Democrats in the House have had their hands forced now...we can't have a FELON President. Their constituents won't stand for that, and they shouldn't. If the Republicans in the Senate want to be judged harshly by history, then they can go ahead and block the conviction. This isn't going to embolden Republicans. It is clear as day that we are dealing with a criminal, lying, self-serving President.
Mueller is coming.
The clown is done.

Nice.

You cannot violate campaign finance law unless you know that it's illegal. I don't think SDNY can prove that he knew it was illegal.
And even if it is illegal, it's not an "impeachable" offense because it happened before he became President.
Once he leaves office, Trump 46 can pardon him on her first day in office. He will never be indicted.

Well, that's your own fault. I saw and heard plenty of Pearl Harbor stories yesterday, but you're too consumed with TDS and posting nonsense about Trump every single day.

Ya know he’s right Flagpole. Impeachment is pretty narrow. So far the only impeachable offense is the still unproven and hard to prove obstruction because it occurred WHILE he was president. Same for any “collusion”because it occurred before he took office, hence all the talk about “can you indict a sitting president?”
You can’t impeach someone for offenses that occurred before he took office.
Trump will serve all 4 years and will run against a Democrat and maybe even another Republican in 2020. He will have tons of trouble winning just due to the volume of talking points and tweets that his opponent can hit on and if the economy keeps on its current path and stagnates he’s a dead fish. Obamacare is still law and the Wall has not been built by Mexico.

The House should impeach Trump and send it over the Senate. Let McConnell refuse to allow a vote on impeachment. The GOP will be die in the 2020 elections. "But the judges," is not worth the destruction the GOP is doing to themselves keeping Trump around. Pence can manage. Trump is a throwaway.

This has to be the most ignorant Trump excuse post of all time.

Your first sentence is debatable. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse. His defense will attempt that, but it won't go far.
I have long said and still think that Trump will not serve prison time...not because he doesn't deserve it but due to some combination of pardon and plea bargain. What we are headed toward is impeachment and then either resignation or conviction by the Senate...a removal of Trump from office before his term is done.
Hopefully Trump knows that murder is illegal. So, you've sunk to defending Trump by saying he didn't know certain things were illegal? Have a deep discussion with yourself, brother.
Mueller is coming.

Nope. There were a few, but late evening news was pretty much void. Didn't get the coverage it deserves, but that was no fault of the news...that was the fault of the Orange One having committed felonies.
Alan, you are not right. A President is accountable for things he did before and during being president. He CAN be impeached for things he did before he was President. There is no law or Constitutional text that says otherwise. It may be CHALLENGED, but if it is determined that Trump conspired with Russia during the campaign to win the election (and it WILL be), regardless of whether he continued to do illegal things while in office, he WILL be impeached and convicted by the Senate, or he will resign.

Been that way for a while. 9/11 is only a few years away from obscurity as well.

Who is ignorant here?
"For a criminal prosecution, the Justice Department must prove that a defendant knowingly violated campaign finance laws."

Why would McConnell refuse to allow a vote? He knows Dems don't have enough votes. I'd be surprised if more than a few Republicans betrayed the President. And once the impeachment is defeated, the Democrats will face a yuge backlash.

People are hoping that Republicans will stand up to Donald Trump on an impeachment vote because he's not nice. These are the same people that think Joe Biden 2020 is a good idea.

Ever heard of Garrick Marland?
How about the hundreds of Obama judge nominations McConnell refused to consider?
How about McConnell's refusal to allow a Senate vote on preventing Mueller from being removed from the investigation?
Sure. Why would McConnell refuse to allow a vote . . . because "the judges".

From your link, ignorant one.
"It likely would have been difficult for Cohen to have tried to argue that his campaign violations weren’t willful given the allegations that he tried to conceal the purpose of the payments as legitimate legal expenses and used shell companies for the transactions.
"In court Tuesday, Cohen told the judge, under penalty of perjury, that he knew he was committing a crime by making the payments. He said he did so “at the direction” of Trump — identified as “Individual-1″ in court papers — “for the principal purpose of influencing the election.”

1) Entirely incorrect. Trivial analogy: If your speedometer is broken and/or you didn't see the "speed limit 35" sign, you've still committed a violation by going 65--regardless of whether your intent was actually to obey all speed limits.
Ignorance of a law may be a MITIGATING factor in determining punishment, particularly if the trier of fact discerns a "good heart" on the part of the defendant, but it does not change the law's being broken.
2) Article II, SECTION 4, U.S. Constitution: "The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." There is no specification of "while the president is in office." A crime committed before commencing the presidency may nevertheless be an impeachable offense.
This makes more sense if we remember that impeachment is a political and not judicial process. An example: If it were discovered that someone had committed a murder before assuming the presidency--but the crime was only found out after the inauguration--Congress might well conclude that s/he would be ineffective as a president and/or did not "deserve" to be president, and proceed with impeachment on that basis.
3) A presidential pardon deals only with federal, not state, charges. NYC and NYS (and other localities) would be free to indict for, and prosecute, any crimes for which a grand jury considers there to be enough prima facie evidence.
Alan, I've been doing a lot of 5x5 at the gym, high weight low reps so I can be strong enough to punch a hole through a brick wall but not get too big since that's bad for running. Have you heard of the 5/3/1 training method? If so, thoughts?
