I hope they go after Mueller because it won't make a difference in the end. Now that Dems have the House, his report WILL see the light of day, as will Trump's tax returns. Any attempt to further obstruct justice will only make this administration look more guilty when it's all said and done. These blood suckers are going to see the light of day and it is going to burn.
Last night was a good night for Democrats. We have to keep in mind that, in many states, Democratic voters are contending with staunch voter suppression efforts, ridiculously gerrymandered district maps, and who knows what kind of foreign cyber interference. The Georgia election was clearly rigged and Abrams still almost pulled it off. O'Rourke almost won Texas (Texas!) as a progressive. Gillum would have won Florida if not for the disenfranchisement of 1.5 million potential voters with felony records. (They'll all get to vote in 2020, though.) Meanwhile, centrist Dems like McCaskill, Heitkamp, and Donnelly lost by significantly larger margins despite having an incumbent advantage. They are obviously orders of magnitude more preferable than the Republicans who replaced them, but in the long run, I'm glad to see the DINO faction of the party become less influential. It is long past time for Dems to stop worrying about appealing to Trump voters , who are obviously dug-in and out of reach, and emphasize turning out the base and stymieing voter suppression efforts. (On this note, McCaskill's Trump-friendly border security remarks in the days leading up to the election were a disgrace. She deserved to lose.)
The progressives are the future. The millennial and minority voters are the future. Not only is it a bad electoral strategy to tell them to "pipe down and be more civil" to people who vote for white supremacists like Steve King and Ron DeSantis, it's completely futile anyway. People are justifiably outraged and they're not going to stop. Arkansas and Missouri voters increased the minimum wage to 11 and 12 dollars, respectively. Florida restored voting rights to ex-felons. Other Republican states expanded Medicaid. Michigan legalized weed. These are all progressive issues. It might not be the right play in every race, but on the whole, I think the midterms showed that Dems shouldn't shy away from leaning into that left turn.
