It matters for a couple of reasons:
One, if you hadn’t noticed, the country is having a reckoning right now about sexual misconduct.
We have a current Justice who was confirmed while going through sexual harassment allegations.
A former president that was impeached for lying about sexual misconduct in the White House.
The current president who we have audio and bush money about sexual misconduct.
The whole Hollywood situation of sexual misconduct.
If this is true -
Confirming a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land should demand the highest ethics and morals and judgement.
High school screw ups can get plenty of other jobs.
Two, he categorically denies any of this happened.
So, if he is boldly lying about this, it is unbecoming of being a Supreme Court Justice for the next 30 or so years.
The above matters if it is true.
And I think it probably is true.
That said, we need to be pretty sure that it true before tossing him out.
They should take their time and review this before having a confirmation vote.
