We're the good guys. The stronger we are, the safer the world is. You can't tell that from inside the "blame America first" media rat maze, but out here in the real world its pretty clear.
I'm perpetually amazed at the retort of "Wow we didn't act like this when Obama was president" by the right as if anyone with half a brain (not many people, in their defense) would even believe that. Agree or disagree with his policies, but I shudder to think of the reaction if it turned out he had been raw dogging porn stars behind Michelle's back and paying hush money. And that's only like 10% of Trump's scandals.

You're trying to have your cake and eat it too. You can't have an isolationist "America first " policy, and a reasonable budget, and a military that patrols the world.

Ahem, no. You are the bad guys. The US is far weaker. Your delusion is 100% complete.

... and Republicans didn't push back against any of that, which is why Trump won. Excellent summary.
Now, all you maze dwellers need to do to get out of the liberal media rat maze is to read that list and try to understand that this is how the people you have been taught to hate see the world. If you could do that, then you would understand us to some extent, you could empathize with us to some degree, the deplorable caricatures would start to fade, and we would begin to look like reasonable human beings with a different point of view that you just might find some common ground with if you gave it a chance.

DiscoGary has swallowed too much Trump-Aide. He only sees what he Trump-Aide allows him to see. He is trapped a Philip K Dick drugged-protagonist novel -- altered states of consciousness; stream of unconsciousness. A book like 'UBIK', of which PDK stated:
"Ubik [Trump] is a metaphor for God. Ubik is all-powerful and all-knowing, and everywhere. The spray can is only a form that Ubik takes to make it easy for people to understand it and use it [Fox News]. It is not the substance inside the can that helps them, but rather their faith in the promise that it will help them [Trump lies]."
This is a good post and 100% correct.

Who said I wanted an isolationist US? That was one part of Trump's platform that never made any sense, and it turns out Trump doesn't think it makes sense either. Instead of being isolationist, he's just trying to police the world more efficiently. I'm on board with that.
Two points.
One. To claim that Obama wasn't subject to conspiracy theory with hints is disingenuously wrong. The current president was responsible for the birth certificate witch hunt, a fabricated conspiracy theory if ever there was one. Also illustrates just how hypocritically filthy you lack of morals really is.
Second. You still have never responded to why Donald jr saying he would love to collude with Russia is not treason. You also won't, since you can't.
So until you come to the light side or come up with an explanation you will continue to be by own admission spineless morons fuelled by spite who fell for the swamp monster and regurgitate it's filth, incapable of seeing how disgustingly vile your lack of morality really is.

Well, who'd'a thunk? I agree with DG here.
No, I don't agree with that whole list of propositions, and in fact I think most of them are contrary to fact and/or simply delusional; but this is indeed how many of those folks see the world. If you want to deal with them civilly, and (god knows) if you want to have a chance of changing any of their attitudes, you have to know where they're coming from.
I think this was posted earlier in the thread: “He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them. But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion... Nor is it enough that he should hear the opinions of adversaries from his own teachers, presented as they state them, and accompanied by what they offer as refutations. He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them...he must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form.” ― John Stuart Mill, On Liberty
Thanks, DG. (Didn't anticipate ever saying that, either!)

5) While most Democrats aren't on board with Trump's policies, our beef with him isn't his policies. Our beef is his lies (more than 6 verified public lies per day), his obstruction of justice, his money laundering that will be found to be tied to Russia and/or other foreign countries, and his corruption to a level that our country has never seen in a political leader.
Flagpole, you truly are something else. You obsess 24X7 about Trump (your kids will become the biggest Republicans in history as a result of your lunacy), but you fail to address what happened under Obama.
The Obama administration weaponized the IRS, FBI, NSA, DOJ, and National Security Council against AMERICAN citizens whom they deemed to be political opponents. Don't try and refute this --
it's common knowledge. How do you not grasp the gravity of this situation? American citizens were treated by the US Government as Enemies of the State. This is the very definition of tyranny. They should be marched to the gallows.
At some point a Democrat will, unfortunately, be sworn in as President. Time will tell if the same tactics are used against him/her. I'll love to see your reaction.
DiscoGary wrote:we would begin to look like reasonable human beings with a different point of view
Except the propaganda you push has no logic. It is very emotionally appealing. But, not logical.
Let's use one of the Trump base favorites: Immigration.
Reasonable responses to immigration include: changes in employment identification policy/procedure. Changes in immigration policy/procedure.
Unreasonable responses to immigration include: Building a wall. Targeted deportation. Ignoring the rule of law. Ignoring employers' responsibilities. Discouraging trade.
You're welcome. And thanks for pointing out that no one needs to agree with anything on that list. I meant to put that in there.
I used to be angry at those on the left. I used to hate some of the more hardcore ones, and I wanted to understand what was going on. My original purpose for engaging in these discussion was to find if the left really believed what they say. After confirming that they do, I then wanted to understand why, then how, then who was doing it, then when etc. In the process of doing all that, I found that the hate faded as the understanding grew.
I really do not hate the leftists that think I'm a white supremacist Nazi because I understand precisely how they got there, and if I really WAS a Nazi, then they would be justified in everything they do and say. They are not evil. They are simply wrong.
But I also know that there is NOTHING I can do which will mend the fence. Those who have thrown me in the Basket of Irredeemable Deplorables need to change their world view to the point where I am humanized again before I can start having any discussions with them. So here I am, trying to changes minds with the full knowledge that I am the LAST person leftists will listen to. That simply stating my opinion will re-enforce their negative view of me.
But I grind forward because who knows, maybe I'm wrong!
You are correct, but, there is no reasoning behind this. We live in a collective regardless of how much the Right insists we don't.
There is an implicit, uncompromsing DEMAND their unreasonable views be adopted resisting any sort of compromise at all.
The consequences of yielding to their demands/abandoning compromise is weakening the collective aspects of our lives. (the Republic)

It's not that I am laughing AT you, Lying Gary. I know that you cannot conceive that there even exist people who don't lie with every breath they take. So, you can't imagine how anyone could survive a "perjury trap" (snicker, snicker).
OK, so maybe I am laughing AT you. But just a little bit (tee hee, tee hee).

No one could survive a government run perjury trap. Not even the most creative liar we ever saw, Bill Clinton, could survive testifying under oath without being caught lying. . .
Trying to help you out here. So, I'll keep it short and sweet.
Your logic is that even a great liar like Bill Clinton was caught lying therefore everyone is a liar?
Seriously? That's your logic?

Good God, it must be truly horrible to be you - so trapped in your world as a liar that it is inconceivable to you that not everybody lies with every breath they take (ah, but I repeat myself). I pity you.

1) My adult daughter is outrageously liberal, and in some ways more than I am, so you are wrong there. My nearly adult son definitely leans liberal and is really against Christian conservatives and thinks guns are stupid, so it is doubtful he will become a Republican. He would be a Libertarian before being a Republican. Nice try though.
2) What happened under Obama has nothing to do with Trump, and yes I refute your claims. If you thought Obama was so bad, you should have insisted on some legal action. Obama wasn't a criminal...Trump is.
3) The fact that a Democrat will be President again some day is precisely why you should not allow the corruption of this President to stand. If he gets away with it, then others in the future will too, and eventually one will be a Democrat who is corrupt and gets away with it and pushes an agenda you don't agree with. The rule of law is what should win out, not Party loyalty.
4) There isn't a Democrat alive or even a Republican alive who is as corrupt and criminal as Donald Trump, so it would be impossible to have a similar thing happen to the next President. This is not a political witch hunt. Trump and his cronies are guilty of illegal behavior; illegal behavior that is a threat to our national security and our nation's sovereignty.
The good news is...
Mueller is coming.
The clown is done.

Correct. Your role then is to be aware of the difference between emotions-based opinion and reason to build consensus without attacking individuals. The framers of the American Constitution understood how easily humans can make decision based on emotion and how easy it is to influence so many and tried to calm the emotional by distributing power among different organizations.
What many forces on the Right are accomplishing now, is neither reasoned, nor aspires to a greater good. The Left does it too. It's just that we have a far Right clown in the executive position that highlights the threats to the Republic from the Right.

IF you are going to call someone "braindead", you'd better spell that correctly. And if you are going to be the grammar police (whether or not you refer to yourself as that doesn't make a difference), you had better be prepared to eat crow when you make grammatical mistakes.
