This was mentioned recently amongst some pros overheard talking in Eugene. Seems like OTC would make better sense. Also curious where he stands on his US citizen status. Any thoughts from the pundits?

Stays in Eugene training under Powell signed by Nike, gets hurt after winning NCAAs this year, no DL meets this year. Fizzles out per-Lawi Lalang.
Joins one of the Kenyan-American squads but never gets citizenship.
so bleak!

I assume you served then? If not, then you're really only saying you're a "real" American by circumstance, not deed. Golly gee, that's something to be proud of.
They haven't served either. That's why it's an "elite athlete program". As long as they keep hitting standards and making teams they don't have to do active service. They only do this because it's the easiest path to American citizenship and beats going back to Kenya. All they have to do is do a 6 week basic training course and then they're pro athletes there on out

It is still by deed, and they are still on the hook if it ever came to it. You know, the opportunity exists for anyone to do it. But maybe we aren't good enough for WCAP?
And maybe they aren't good enough for the Kenyan Olympic team?
I read an article of SGT Kibet last year, he is in WCAP but he was deployed to Iraq and Kuwait before he joined, also at nationals we found out that Bor was scheduled to deploy but is older brother deployed instead to Afghanistan. What do you call that? Everyone in WCAP will deploy at some point. Even Major Brown had to deploy. Explained to me that!!
It's easy to win a Silver medal than to make a Kenyan team
Yeah that no Kenyans in the Olympic final lol

Isn't it funny how paul chelimo won silver in the 5k, and not a single kenyan even made it to the finals
Get your facts straight!! wrote:

I'm fairly sure they have to serve 4 years after they are done in WCAP.
