I'll begin by saying that this fall I had a stress fracture in cross country--I would say I was in about very low 16s shape or high 15s before I was out for the season. I am still limited on distance(maxing at about 6 miles at 6'50" pace), but do a LOT of core work and pull ups/pushups etc. Does anyone suggest specific workouts or core routines etc to train my 800? I PR's at 2:05, although I feel I am generally more talented at the mile. I am ready to up my mileage a little bit, and can start doing sprint work on the track, although I am generally sticking to longer intervals right now. I pretty much coach myself since I train on my own in the winter, so fire away and I'll give it a try. Thanks for any input!
Note: Also, I do not generally use weights, but will do high repetition of exercises that usually do involve weights like squats, lunges, knee to chest to squat jumps, etc
