Either way you have tales to say.
Or perhaps there was a period when it looked like you would never even beat big Sis. . .

I was the slower one.
I was very lucky- my brother was the football, baseball star. I was/am still the runner.
He's 9 years older than me (I'm 57 now) and he has been telling people for YEARS that I did it right.
Keep running guys.
I was faster at 800m down, he was faster at 1500m up.
I'm faster at everything now, because he got fat since college and basically can't run anymore without hurting himself, while I run about 15 to 20mpw, which is plenty for me to be way faster than him now. Being a former 1430/406 runner doesn't help much if you're 30 pounds overweight now.
He tries to do some elliptical now and then, but I think at this point, he has basically forgotten how tough we once were and he doesn't work out hard enough or often enough to make the weight come off.

sorry to hear but you keep the fitness running, be proud of your fitness
My brother was faster all the way through college. Of course he is 5 years older than me. He no longer runs, so I guess that makes me faster now by default. I'm faster now than he ever was. It would be fun to throw down at our local 5k Turkey Trot with him one more time, I gotta talk him into running it.
It depends. I gave up other sports to run year round. I HS prs of 17:01 for 5k 4:43 for the 1600 and 2:01 for the 800.
My brother played football in the fall, just lifted in the winter and ran spring track.
He ran a 4:5x 1600 and 2:04 800. No doubt with more training he would have been the "faster" one.
Considerably slower than my younger brother. However I could still beat him in the odd race.
About the same speed as my other two bros.
Slower. :/
faster. brother is a musician, but does some hiking, can "throw down" a 7:30 when I force him to"

Did you ever race 1k against each other??? Who won or who would win????
Faster. I was the sporto at all ages. He made play computers out of cardboard boxes when he was younger then he couldn't get enough of real computers as he got older. I don't think he could run for more than 15 seconds.
I was slower until age 16. He and I have completely different builds - he's a slow-twitch athlete, and I have no endurance to speak of, but sub-11 100.
My twin brother was faster and 25 lbs thinner than me. I'm better looking though.
He's kind of bossy and thinks he smarter but he's not.
Mom always liked me best.
The faster, but not necessarily more talented. One brother went to nationals for the pentathlon or decathlon or whichever was at NBN, was one place off all american. One brother was state runner up in Pole Vault. Both were distance runners initially. I run the 800 on up and cross country and killed their times my freshman year, but I wouldn't say I'm on any greater a path to success.
My sister and I are very close with our times despite experiencing different obstacles over the years and having different body types. It just goes to show how much of it is genetics.
I was both the faster and slower. While I was the better athlete, I think my brother had better natural speed. He didn't really train too seriously as he had many other pursuits and I became the better runner once I took it up.
High School:
Me: 202 425 932 1620
Brother: 204 424 942 1646
My younger brother started running track and was pretty good as a frosh in high school. He made fun of me because I was a deadbeat and didn't play any sports. I joined as a junior when he was a sophomore. Without my brother talking shit, I wouldn't have started running. Ran in college, post collegiately blah blah blah
This has been very interesting to me for my family. Neither of our parents ran competitively but both my older brother and younger sister picked up the sport, along with myself. Both my brother and I have graduated high school now. And my sister is finishing up her junior year. It's hard to compare her to us due to the gender thing, but she has been ok. My brother and I held similar HS achievements. Each of our teams got 2 state titles. He held the 5k xc school record while his class was in session. I missed the HS 3200m record at state by .2 seconds. A record held by one of his upper classmates. So we favored in different events. Then whenever we went head to head, it'd vary then too. As far as I know, he is running casually to stay in shape after he has now graduated college. He and his team won their conference and made it to nationals their senior year. This was the same year me my college team won their conference. Just never went on to nationals. Different regions and such so we never got to compete. I still have some elgiblity so I may go to nationals one day. I guess we will see what's to come of my sister in her HS career.
I was slower, until my younger brother started having chronic injury problems. I used to be injured quite often, but now I'm usually healthy. Meanwhile, he has become constantly injured.
