We'll never definitively who or who was not on PEDS, so there really is no answer to any of this. Same is true for nearly all endurance sports like prof cycling, etc. All we have are times and stories and opinions.

How many world xc titles did Said Aoutia win again?
No. Not the GOAT, absolutely no way. Farah is easily ahead of him. Ya sure, Said ran a fast 800 but Mo has the European record in the half marathon. Plus he ran that 59:3x half marathon the same year he ran 3:28 for the 2nd time. Plus our generation is way deeper in distance events than in Aouita's day, you can't argue with that. He's one of the greats, but you're honestly riding his d**k if you think he's the GOAT. Lol.
I'm absolutely sure he won the same as Haile Gebresellaise, next troll?

Also I'm not saying Mo is necessarily the GOAT (I think it's easily Bekele).
Are you seriously quoting yourself, no wonder I left these boards for several years. Not because of the moderators but time wasted with EVER CHANGING names of unsupported negative sprewing trolls.
And how many less than bekele?
Why would anyone post a video of Lagat?
Do you not realize he is the only guy that actually failed a drug test, which is why he could out-kick Bekele, Kipchoge, and Choge?
What really matters that he was flexible ? In atheletics the only a range of disciplines that counts is the decathlon. Out of that is discipline by discipline, event by event. Thr´s no world record for the 800-1500m-3000m-steeple-5000-10000m. Ther´s no olimpics either.
Now if you say he was a grest runner, we agree. Aouita, he spoiled his changes when he pretended to run the 800m, the 1500m and the 5000m in the Seul Olimpics and finished witn a brinze medal when he could have one or 2 gold, and resumed his career after that.
115 wins out of 119 world class races

The athlete: SAID AOUTIA (Mor)
A little late to this thread and after reading the OP, I just wanted to say I agree wholeheartedly. When I was a kid in middle school Aouita was dominating and was a great inspiration to me.
Thanks, OP, for writing this up so well.

Distance running is when the athlete has to "find" the best speed during the different parts of the race to do the full race in his best possible time. In the opposite to sprinting, where the athletes just run "as fast as possible" during the full race (yes, it's not completely true for 400m (and even 200m) - but almost).
800m and 1500m is distance running.
Absolute moron!
"Distance running" is short for long distance.
800 and 1500 are not distance.

More like lifting it straight from Wikipedia. And the Wikipedia article is an unsourced lift from an article in the German magazine "Leichtathletik"
Does anyone know what thread in 1988 that listed an article that reported "Said Aouia had 45.9 .400m speed"?
