It's expected to hit 74 with 90% humidity on Sunday.
Of course another solution might be to speed up and finish before it gets too hot.

I live in Houston and the last few mornings have been relatively pleasant. Today it was 88% humidity and about 68 degrees. Compared to summer when it can be 82 for the low and 98% humidity, it really isn't too bad.
There won't even be a Houston on Sunday when New England is finished with them.

Ummm....ever heard of Brock MF Osweiller?
Plantar fasciitis my ass.
SE wind will be in the runners' faces from about mi 18 to the finish with some pretty good wind tunnels downtown. Not quite brutal like it hitting mid 80s in LA. But very difficult conditions especially for anyone taking over 3:30 to run the marathon. Good thing the course is otherwise very fast.
Rupp-certified applies to weather too.

Whatever happened to the greatest city in the world??
#HOUSTON #SUX
The problem with that forecast is it WON'T be 90% humidity when the temp gets to 75.
While it will be warm, it is far from dangerous conditions. I am showing a dew point of 60° for most of the day with cloud cover and wind. Most racers in the summer would consider these conditions ideal.

Someone beat me to it. Wondering if weather is the real reason for not racing. It would be less of a hassle from a media perspective for Rupp to not race claiming an injury than saying the weather is not conducive to an AR attempt. Either way I don't blame him.

Wait, Rupp was going to run? Give him a break. He's run one marathon in BRUTAL conditions. Another in terrible conditions. I wouldn't run either. Half or full.
The half marathon starts at 7am on Sunday. As Galen and company finish around 8am, it will be around 66-67 degrees. Galen lives for this kind of race weather.
If training has gone well, (Portland has been an icy and snowy mess for a couple weeks. Galen has probably been on the treadmill in 65 degrees) sub 60 is possible.

I ran an easy 12 this morning in Houston. Start felt great, it was 95% humidity when I atart d according to weather.com. Not bad but man about 8 miles. I wasn't going hard but body temperature going higher, and coat of sweat on me
Yes LA was worse and Houston summers are worse but this will be pretty bad for all but the most prepared
Rupp doesn't want all you losers saying NOT RUPP CERTIFIED all day so he used the injury excuse. It's your fault LR. This is what you get. He will dominate his next race and erase any doubters. He's basically saying,,"it will be too hot but I don't want to say that cuz LRC has a bunch of dumb basement trolls who will abuse that and throw shade at me and Alberto with stupid rumors."

It is 9:30 and the humidity is 100%. I don't think it gets too much higher than that.
Not without an included swim...

same this morning, my brother. i think it was about 72 and 98% when i stepped out. feels fine at first, but the body cant do anything to cool. efforts over ~75 minutes, at least for this guy, just get progressively tougher. i'm not sure folks who train in dry climates really understand the effect humidity has. even those who spend a couple days here don't really get it--you don't really get a sense of the toll it takes until you've done a couple longer efforts. and i dont know that LA was worse. it was warmer, but wasn't the humidity in the 30-40 range? think we're effectively comparing a dew point of 60 for LA to a dew point of 70+ this morning (and tomorrow in houston). those are vastly different animals.
on second thought, looking at the actual forecast, 64/96 is loads better than what i was dealing with this morning. and 68/81 is pretty manageable, for the slower folks. still - humidity is tough.
How much money does he get for doing his job in the humidity, and how much money does he get for running at 64F and 25% humidity.
It's his fitness and he gets to spend it on Rupp certified conditions.
