So a while back, I had severe left foot pain and scheduled a bone scan. While I was waiting to complete the scan, the pain subsided and I resumed running. A few weeks later I had the scan done. No pain at this point- never followed up, continued running around 60mpw. I just received a copy of the scan report and it says this:
"FINDINGS:
1. There is increased flow and pool of radiotracer to the left foot.
2. Delayed anterior and posterior planar images from the pelvis to the feet
demonstrate normal biodistribution of the radiotracer within the soft tissues
as well as the genitourinary system.
3. Focal fusiform radiotracer activity is noted in the left 3rd metatarsal.
Additionally, there is mild focal fusiform radiotracer activity in the upper
tibias bilaterally. There is increased linear radiotracer activity about both
tibias. Increased activity at both knees and ankles, likely represent stress
related changes.
IMPRESSION:
1. Left third metatarsal stress fracture.
2. Bilateral grade 1 upper tibial stress fractures.
3. Severe shin splints bilaterally.
4. Stress related changes of the knees and ankles."
I have zero pain at this point, and have been running comfortably at 60ish mpw for a few months now. Should I just keep pushing? Get another scan done?
