My son, who's 8, has been playing football with the local kids, that are from 9-14 in ages. My sons the smallest, but the toughest, he tackles kids 2 or 3 times his size and loves to play. The last couple of games a kid a few years older and inches taller then him has been targeting him. He runs across the field to block my son in the back, at sprint speed, does rolling picks, tackles by grabbing the facehead, and tries picking kids up and slamming them to the ground. He's the only kid out of dozens that plays like this. Today, he elbowed my son, in the face, long after a play was done. I ask the dad to come over, hours after the kids r done playing. After stating the first 3 dirty moves his kid is doing, he starts telling me he's a coach, for 10 years, has lived in the nieghborhood longer then us has some other succesfull business project, and on and on. I look at him and tell him none of that's relevant to what his kids doing and is that what he teaches them, as the "pro" coach. He then starts calling my 8 year old, and me, a cupcake, and walks out into the street, telling me to come out there and "say something to his face."
I couldn't believe a 40+, suburban, male would act like this when i'm trying to have a rational conversation about his kids dirty and unsportsmanlike behaviour. When I state again what his kid does, he tells me that his kids don't play football. I ask him which one is it, their dads a coach guru, or they don't know the rules. He calls me an a*%hole and walks away.
This is a neighborhood of $500,000 + homes and while the dads out in the road, taunting and threatening, the 9 and 12 year old start doing the same thing. Great example of what's wrong with our country.
WTH?
