I just stumbled across this story, I am curious what you guys think about this.
For anyone who doesn't know what the incline is, it is ~1 vertical mile up the side of Mount Manitou, located in Colorado Springs going up ~2,200 feet (Roughly 40+% grade). The record is held by world renowned mountain runner Joe Grey.. Now here is where it gets comical, Raquel Pennington, (not even a runner) but a UFC fighter went to the news claiming that she set the record on the incline offering no proof. A 19 minute ascent on the incline beats any women and every male on the Incline including athletes who have won the Pikes Peak Marathon and Ascent and just about every single top mountain and Ultra runner (Zach Miller, Andy Wacker, Sage Canaday)
To make matters more comical in the linked article Raquel claims she sprints up carrying 100lbs in 30 minutes (30minutes is faster than 99.99% of all athletes who do the incline with no vest on.) The previous verified record was held by Allie Mac Pikes Peak Ascent Winner 2014 and former CU runner.
What are you thoughts?
Why does the news post this junk without verifying anything?
