Since this is a mid d and distance dominated board I'd say limit it to those types of runners and not sprinters. Seems most of the schools that have only one great runner in their history are smaller schools. More impressive is a school that is "big time" and yet does little to nothing in terms of mid d and distance running. As a native of GA may I present the University of Georgia, the oldest land grant university in the nation and a so called "big time" athletic school. I can think of two runners from the school that went on to accomplish anything, both marathoners. Benji Durden, 1980 Olympian and Mark Plaatjees, '93 Gold medalist for the US at the world champs after switching his citizenship from South Africa. Strangely enough, neither did much while they were actually Bulldogs. Check out the school's Top 10 track list outdoors...http://www.georgiadogs.com/sports/c-track/spec-rel/112106aad.html . Mediocrity they name is UGA. Not a hater (actually I walked on and made the team in the 80's) just stating facts. Is there a D 1 school that is "big time" in sports and has a long history like UGA does that is less impressive in producing mid d and distance runners? Discuss.

Let me give you and idea. When you feel like you have a submission, look at the school's history and their track records board.
I give you ... Leigh Daniel. Two National Championships in distance events.
