Since I've started my freshman year of college I have taken really well to the training and mileage at a division one program. In high school I didn't really have anybody to workout with and once I got to college I was surrounded by talent to complete my runs and workouts with. Now that I'm home I'm back to training alone again and it's absolutely miserable. I can't seem to run the same times and paces that I was when training at school. Has anyone else had or noticed this themselves?
Sounds to me like you're overtraining at school (like at many programs).
If you have any difficulty doing your easy days at a comparable pace, then you're probably doing them WAY too fast when you're at school.
With workouts, on the other hand, it's pretty much a given that you'll be slower running solo. It's pretty close to a law of human nature that you can push yourself harder when you're running (competing?) with other people and being observed by a coach. But 90% of your workouts should be at a difficulty level that you can do solo. If you need teammates to get you through most of your workouts, then you're going too hard. Save the really hard workouts for late in the season when you're tapering.
