And yet the average freshman at the high school I coach at is faster than the timed you just posted. Not many male 15 year old kids run as slow as you posted by the end of 3 months of training, I would estimate only about 15% run that slow after just 3 months of training.
And people typically do what they are good at. The average person is not a 15 year old kid. A 15 yr old kid on a HS track team is probably the fastest he will ever get unless he's good enough for college.
I base my assessment on a bunch of 20-30 year olds I train with everyday in the Army who already possess higher physical aptitude than the "average" person. No it's not focused sprint training but we run, sprint, lift, etc.
The average all out 400m time I've seen is around 80-90 sec. The average 100m I've seen is 15-16s.
