Just in case anyone was wondering what the CORRECT 'year-end ranking' should have been.
LRC take:
1. Matthew Centrowitz • USA • 27 years old • 3:34.09 1500 sb (#21) • 3:50.63 mile sb (#1) • Olympic champion • World Indoor champion • U.S. Olympic Trials champion • U.S. Indoor champion
DL results:Â None
2. Asbel Kiprop • Kenya • 27 years old • 3:29.33 1500 sb (#1) • 3:51.48 mile sb (#3) • 6th at Olympics • Diamond League champion
I particularly enjoy how Letsrun.com chose to highlight Centro as the 'US Olympic Trials Champion', but don't mention Kiprop's Kenyan Championship until later on. Talk about favoritism.... One is much more impressive than the other...
Long story short, Kiprop was much more dominant this year in the 1500 and should be #1. Doesn't matter if he blew up in the Olympics, he was FIVE seconds faster over 1500 this season.... DL champion... yada yada yada.
#1 Kiprop
#2 Centro
