The 16 year old Norway prodigy won the euro xc in the sub 20 category. By a good margin also it seems. I'm surprised there were no threads yet.

The letsrunners are too busy being outraged by hobbyjoggers to actually follow the sport.
Yes, I made a post; but seems it disappeared. Perhaps because it didn't involve politics, drugs, or some silly man's dating life? Youngest ever U20 to take the prize!

Still trying to wrap my head around this one...16 year old actual Norwegian beats 20+ yr old Europe imports. This would be like a freshman Drew Hunter crushing Cheserek in the 2016 NCAA XC final.
Was this course 6k? 17:08 on that seems shockingly fast--that's 14:15 5k pace! For a 16 year old! Pretty crazy. This has to be better than his 3:42.

The course was actually 6.15 km, so 13:42 5k pace.
Sorry, 13:56 5k pace.

Do Renato and friends bother cheating win win European juniors?
World Juniors, he loves to cheat, but I'm not sure this is enough.
The kid can probably run 8 flat in the 3000m and sub 14 as well in the 5000m right now.
I heard the u23 course was only about 7870m instead of the 8150 the organizers said. so the u20 would probably have been short as well..

Usually safe to assume it's not
who cares about the distance exactly? Ingebrigtsen has already run 3:42 and now shows that he has quite good endurance. Good milers should have endurance to 6k at least but look at what Asbel Kiprop did, a world junior xc title! At 16, but against European competition, Ingebrigtsen validates his performance at 1500m and shows that he'll be good at 5000m as well.
I'm a huge fan of the Ingebrigtsens, so I'm always happy to see them succeed. Jakob might be the best one yet,
I mean Filip is better than henrik, so if this one is better than filip he could medal some day

Nobody us interested in xc times or exact distance in Europe or at world lebel. Ever here Bekele mention a xc time? No only American college kids.
So he was giving 3 years away to the best runners in Europe and still won. The quickest British u20 this year is 13.52 so it just shows what kind of form Ingebritsen is in to have won this race. I dont agree that Filip is better than Henrik I believe he was just been better recently. Remember Henrik has run 3.31. Sounds like Jacob is going to be another star.
This is great to see!
it is fair to note that perhaps the favorite, Alexander Yee, fell twice but still finished 11th.
Looking forward to following the Ingebrigtsen brothers in 2017.

According to the father, who have coached them all, Jakob have been better in training than both Henrik and Filip this fall. Henrik still have a long way back from a very serious hamstring injury he chose to run with this summer, explaining his lacking performances. Filip has had some injuries too, but this is quite the story. Before the race the father told the norwegian press that he had seen nothing like Jakob ever before and was sure he would get the win.
Why Letsrun, both the Brojos, and the readers still doesn't follow this boy closely is a mystery.
Tbh why would we want to be interested in this kid.
I'll take Ratcliffe and Hunter over Ingeb

Seems like you don't get that he's like 2-3 years younger than them. Ingebrigsten turned 16 less than 3 months ago. He's gonna be way faster than they are now when he's 18-19. Plus he's the world record holder in the 1500m for 15 year olds.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen has a 1989 Ferrari 348 GTB and he's just put in paperwork to upgrade it
