I somehow made it through undergrad without doing a beer mile. It just never lined-up with my schedule. I don't know why but I've recently felt the urge to do one, but I don't want to do it half-ass. It's going to be painful enough, I don't need to make it feel any worse. I am just finishing-up the Fall semester of grad school, so I should have 3-4 weeks of time to jump-start my training.
My current standing:
1. Currently washed-up and relatively out-of-shape
2. Not fat
3. Haven't run a competitive mile since winter 2015 (4:07)
4. I like and drink a lot of beer, but I was never known for my chugging ability
I want to do this in the Spring, probably around April/May. What is the best way to train, for both the running side and the drinking side of things? I'd rather not be chugging beers all alone in my Mom's basement over break. Would seltzer work? What beers should I use? Do I do mile training, or should I just not worry about the running part as much?
