Another win for Trump? Not sure what backroom deals might be involved, however.

Crony capitalism.

US steel is angling for a massive tax cut.
Once they get the tax cut, Trump will lie again about bringing back 10,000 jobs just as he did with Carrier.
Love it! The left is now the party that wants to outsource everything. Trump messes with people's minds like no other.

OMG can I get out of paying taxes if I don't move?

I know!!! For the first time in a long time, someone in power is at LEAST talking about American jobs that aren't UAW (looking at you, Detroit bailout), and the Trump haters are losing their freaking minds. The guy is a complete Ahole, but at least people are talking about American jobs again.
Money is the only motivation. We will have to wait until the accounting dust settles.
…or , bring it back here because we are going to war.

I hate HRC and Obama's presidency has been an absolute shite show but I really don't get the point of paying a company $7million to keep 800 jobs here while they are still shipping 1300 to Mexico. Seems like bullshite to me. These jobs may not have been UAW but they are still union jobs.
Wrong.
US Steel CEO never said they do plan to restore 10,000 jobs.
Here is what he said:
“I’m more than happy to bring back the employees that we were forced to lay off during the depressing period,†Longhi said in an interview on CNBC.
Which was immediately followed by a statement:
“Market conditions will dictate if, when and how many employees we can recall,†a U.S. Steel spokeswoman told Reuters on Wednesday.
So they COULD restore 10,000 jobs.
They aren't doing so as of now. They aren't planning to do so as of now.

800 jobs at 40k per year is 32m of wages earned in the good old USofA. That's worth a few mil of personal income taxes, FICA taxes, sales taxes etc contributed to the federal and state economies. Not to mention welfare and unemployment benefit savings.

LOL
How the heck is Obama's presidency a disaster?
He brought back 15 million jobs and the unemployment rate is now 4.6%
He inherited a collasping economy with the worst recession since 1929, the economy is now stable, unemployment keeps coming down. And you call him a disaster?
This can only happen in the wacky make believe world of conservatism
Trump saves 800 jobs and allows 500 to go to mexico and he throws a party to celebrate . And this was after he arranged a massive tax cut that will mostly benefit Carrier executives.

Lower corporate taxes is the carrot and if that is what it takes for companies to open new plants, facilities, provide a new revenue source for the local economy, it's a win-win for America. Go Trump! The man just keeps on winning.
Be happy liberals, Obama talked a great game about creating jobs, but Trump is already doing it before taking office and these are career jobs, not just part time or fast food type jobs.
MAGA!!!

The video clip is widely available.
But it has been blown out of proportion.
this is the oxymoran of all oxymoran's. By definition, the free market does not expressly prohibits cronyism. I can't recall who it was but (I think it was on national review) i saw an author refer to it as "crony corporatism" since the more common suggestion is indeed an oxymoron. Since trump is really a closet liberal (well, socially at least, and to a large extent economically as well), any actions like this should come as no surprise.discus...

Welcome to capitalism. Of COURSE money is the only motivator. Does that make it wrong?

Ok, but it's costing $7million for that. Not to mention the company still shipped a bunch of jobs to Mexico. In addition, doesn't this set a bad example that you can hold the federal govt (or state, local etc) hostage and threaten to move out of the country unless you are given some cash as well? All around it just seems stupid. There are more jobs leaving the country than there are staying and it cost $7million

$7 Million over 10 years, so 700k/yr, or $700/yr/job. Seems like a deal for US, as in ALL OF US.
How many jobs were staying here until Orange Man got involved? Any? I doubt HRC would have taken a break from her victory lap to save a few jobs.

I am pretty sure you are a black and white thinker and a given word for you, like capitalism , can only mean righteousness in all connotations. Becoming the president of the US and affecting political policy for your personal financial gain may be wrong ,even if the word capitalism doesn't clear that up for you. I suspect arguing about it with you won't do that either.
