Would it be weird if I took HER last name? FYI I'm not her husband.
Many women do not take their husbands' last names. It is 2016.
Why would any high profile (relatively speaking) person take their spouse's last name? Someone googling her may have seen incorrect results if she took on a new name, old articles/advertising would no longer have the same association, new advertising/promotion may go over people's heads. It would be a while before people would see 'Molly Benninger is doing/ran x' and care. All of this seems rather inconvenient for someone who is paid because other people pay attention to them.
To piss you off
Post 9/11....changing your last name is a PITA!
She got married before she turned pro, name recognition wasnt a problem for Jenny Simpson.

Why didn't you take your husband's last name?

Study this issue carefully, because these are definitely the only two explanations for that choice.
No.
Molly is an alpha female. She does cross fit pullups.
Her husband is a beta male from Canada. He now has no last name and is hiding somewhere in the US.
Yeah, the guy who ran ~13:30 as a true freshman at ND is a real "beta male."
Nonsense. Kurt's out pounding the mean streets of Providence, building up a solid coaching resume.
Why didn't Shannon Rowbury, Brenda Martinez, Shalane Flanagan, and others not take their husband's name? Why didn't their husbands take their names? Wake up people, it's 2016.

^^This.
If the good ol' boys of the government want to keep the % of women who do change their name to their husbands to the high 80s/low90s depending on the survey, they will roll back some of the security-theatrics.
It costs a fortune, 10 yrs later still have to produce a zillion docs to renew a license, etc, and you can go by whatever you want socially, legally, and professionally.
You can take your husband's last name but continue to run under your maiden name. This is what Shannon Rowbury did (sort of). This is what I did. I am not the only one. If you haven't seen her passport then you don't know what her last name is.

You need a hobby. Try running, I hear it's fun.
Being well known is one of many reasons not to change names.
Kudos for not hyphenating, that is the pet peeve of my life. Married lady hyphenators are not quite as bad as unmarried kids who get hyphenated by their idiot unmarried parents, but still, just pick one name people.
Molly Huddle is more memorable and alliterative than Molly Benninger. Also, he's Canadian.

Will we have a Emma Boshard?
Thank you DESIREE LINDEN.
2nd at the Boston Marathon and an Olympian as Desiree Davila but has no problem switching to Desiree Linden. Similar story with Deena Drossin who didn't think twice when switching to Deena Kastor. Just need to be comfortable in your own skin.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
