First, Weldon it's not that easy to exercise your right to vote. The rules are very unclear whether you as a "ten year athlete" can actually vote anywhere unless you are a registered delegate and are in the correct committee. Much too difficult to explain here, but any election can be controlled by using the right resources and tip toeing around the rules.
Security was a joke. In an early meeting I was asked to stand in line to present credentials and ID. In others voting occurred without checking anything.
The LA marathon debacle was discussed with Craig Virgin, Will Leer and others leading the charge. I repeatedly pointed out that they were ignoring the "elephant in the room" which was Max pulling the trials out of Houston and giving them to LA. Both he and Steve Miller insisted the athletes come first and then admitted they were at the mercy of the TV schedule. By the way, apparently TV ratings were down from previous years. Of course both of them also pointed the finger at everyone but themselves and missed the ideal opportunity for an apology and an admission of guilt. But, what else would you expect? They wouldn't even point the finger at LA because the might " need them again." Where else in the real world would this happen?
