Why the hoopla?
You have a team with an average of 16:15 per scoring runner which loses by over 35 points to a team with 16:27 per scoring runner average.
It highlights the dichotomy of Cross Country, the fastest 5 on average don't always win the race. If you had a consistent distribution of runners from first to last then scoring would have a higher correlation to scoring team average.
Is that insulting? Does it somehow discredit Bozeman's victory? No, I think it just highlights the inconstancy that is Cross Country. But that is what makes it fun! I love it, In one race a 5 second improvement from your number 3 runner could have no effect on scoring. In the same race a 3 second improvement from your number 5 could have huge ramifications.
That's just how cross country is, I find no harm in pointing it out.
