Ryan Hall is a genetic freak of talent.
Talent never leaves!!!
…unless you do crossfit and gain weight.
Arciniaga was pretty confident before the race:
http://nickarciniaga.blogspot.com/2016/12/two-races-in-hawaii-in-two-weekends.html
In 16th place is a guy in the 50-54 division.
He is also 2 places ahead of Ryan Hall.
(Crossfit is deadly to genetic talent.)
I ran 1:06.22 as the Invisible Man but they marked me as a no-show.
So Nick A packed it in when he saw he couldn't stay with Gray to preserve for the marathon next week? That would explain the 6 minute difference.
What happened to Smyth? Thought thaat was supposed to be the matchup for Gray?

Uh, try to keep up with keeping up:"For Smyth, who finished 10th at the New York City Marathon last week, he said he’s looking forward to racing against Joe Gray and chasing the legacy of Max King.“I’m really looking forward to racing Joe, it’s been awhile and he’s had an amazing 2016,†said Smyth. “For him to win the World Mountain Running Championship is really impressive. Even with Joe on the start line I probably won’t mix up my strategy too much. I’m as fit and confident as I’ve ever been and really just need to focus on racing tough.â€"http://www.xterraplanet.com/2016/11/carlson-smyth-ready-run-another-world-title/

is chad hall back? i haven't heard his name since he won footlocker in 2006 and thought he quit.
So many different countries represented at these 'world champs' - 1 Canadian and the rest American.
Smyth either didn't show or went off course.
Gray is a boss.
Solid run by Nick.
Isn't this mtn biking? Not trail running.
Actually just spoke to him, sounds like they were together then gray kinda gapped him by a minute or so then smythe went off course and cut some portion of the course and gray actually caught him again and passed him. He says smythe did lose like 20 seconds probably on a early wrong turn which probably hurt him a lot especially on the pace they were on. It was extremely muddy he says, think euro style xc!
Doesnt Ryan Hall hurt his "brand" by running really slow (by his standards) after gaining the weight?
I'm actually just impressed that he placed... I thought he gave up hard running?
