I had normal issues with my stomach like the last 3 years I have run (this is my 4th year), like normal as in I ate pizza at lunch, went on a long run and had to stop half way through to take a dump. Maybe 6 times over 3 years I had to crap while running.
I upped mileage this year (from 30-50). I have had really bad stomach issues while running (having to take a sh*t). Some weeks its like everyday and some weeks it's not. Usually will happen on tempo runs.
Here's what ive noticed:
1) If I dont eat before the run and its the morning, it goes well almost every time.
2) If its an afternoon run its way worse. I try to take a dump before and its ether a) really small or b) can't
3) I ate more lettuce, that helped.
4) I ate yogurt that helped
5) I drank more water that helped
So its happened a lot and its gotten worse through the season. I have actually had to stop on 6 mile runs and walk the last 2 i have to go so bad. I have had to stop to go multiple times... And finally, my last race I literally went in my pants.
So what's wrong with me?
I got tested for celiac (blood test) and IBS (Stool test), both came back negative.
