He won $125 in a race (well he netted $90 because he paid $35 to enter). Should this put him out of the hobby jogger category?

Wow that's a slow winning time I bet. His PR 5K is only 16:02 and in my neck of the woods the $300 turkey trot race has 15:20-15:30 runners win it. He probably ran 16:30 or at least slower than his PR of 16:02.
He's a douche by posting that video though. He's a fast runner compared to most guys but probably doesn't have much going on in his life that's too amazing aside from being an ok runner.

You got that right, he has such a chip on his shoulder in that video.
I just noticed if you added two more inches on to the front of his teeth
you'd have a bunny rabbit. :)
This cicirunner just did a 20 mile workout at GMP. He's clearly learned a lot from this website.
Speed is irrelevant. When it comes to running income versus running budget spent on shoes, clothes, travel, etc.
Negative cash flow = hobby jogger
Positive cash flow = professional runner
Lost all respect for this guy when I saw his YMCA video. Didn't know much about him in the first place but man the sense of entitlement that he has is just beyond laughable. Mocking people who are using the institution fairly just because they aren't of his caliber and crying about the swimming pool arrangement.
I don't know how old he is but as someone else pointed out, running is probably the only thing he does
Thanks for posting that. His attitude is hilarious. I'm sure the YMCA is heart broken about losing his membership. He obviously doesn't realize that one of the most important objectives for over 100 years the Y has been to teach children to swim. But I guess his life is much more important than anyone else's.
I wonder why he is so hung up about geezers walking around naked in a locker room? People in the US are so strange about that. Is he scared that if he sees something that he might turn...?
neega the point of his channel is to document his training and make entertaining videos. his cocky, on top of the world attitude is part of the show. if he didnt have that it wouldnt be funny.
Finally someone gets me

I agree with what he is saying here.
Chris ran a sub 2:40 on a course that loses like 2000 feet of elevation. LOL.

There is a 49 year old in our community who does nothing but run
Sorry about the rabbit comment.
Congratulations, now you can post to the 50+ thread.

Thinking the same thing. Why do people these days love to hear themselves talk so much? Dude, no one cares.
Well nothing personal but try running a sub 2:45 at the age of 49.
I looked at his video, hard work. So I guess he can toot his horn.
But I did notice one glaring flaw.
It doesn't look like he did a lot of hills when he was younger,
now I'm going to say this one time.
You have from the age of 15 to 20, to develop a strong
hill base (about two months for five years).
Basically, doing that is like putting gold bars away
in your physical bank. You don't do it. It gets harder to do
hills at an older age. However, when you pick up running again,
you pick up that smooth flowing form of a classic distance runner.
So I'm just saying. Maybe he could've run under 2:30?
Only he knows.
Like the Beach Boys said, "God only knows what I'd be without you."
His right sideburn is an inch longer than his left...and what’s with his trimmed/tattoo’d eyebrows?
Weirdo and he’s a hobbyjogger in my book.
LOL "It doesn't look like he did hills when he was younger" WTF does that even mean?!?!
