Short term, long term. I'm not looking forward to this.

You are on LR so you can't be getting laid. No need for one for whacking off.
It won't affect it at all. You are cutting a sperm tube, not affecting your testosterone levels at all.
You might be a bit uncomfortable for a day or two and that's it.
It didn't affect my running much since I was 35 at the time and not competing much except for an occasional road race. I took 4 or 5 days off. Since I had it done mid-January and live in the upper midwest, the off days were almost like a welcome relief from the weather.
Plan on missing a few days. No sense trying to be a die-hard tough guy because it might cause problems with your junk. Do a hard workout the day of the surgery, then rest a few days.
A few personal questions: How old are you? Do you have any kids? If so, how old are they? Is the vasectomy a mutual decision by you and your wife? (I'm assuming you're married.)
I had mine done while I ran on a treadmill so it didn't stop me at all. I did hear the surgeon say"'whoops" and then he lunged to grab something that flew off the back of the treadmill.

Short term....I got a few days of much needed rest.
Long term...none.
Get a large bag of frozen peas, though. It will help immensely.

Thanks. Mid 30's, two amazing kids, and the decision was certainly mutual. It's the right thing for us. My plan is to do as you suggested. Hard workout planned for Friday morning and then I'm assuming I'll need a week or so off. I'm not competitive anymore either, but my training this year has been very good and consistent. Maybe a short break will help.
There is tremendous variation in recovery time. Most guys are better to where they can exercise in a week or two. Mine was far longer. Took me a month to where I could run again (albeit with some discomfort), and four months to be pain free. My experience is not the most common, however. Just keep the frozen peas on your clackers and wear a jock strap for a week after, and you should be good.

What kind did you get? I'm assuming.you had the scalpel version.
It sounds like you have your ducks in a row. Good luck, you won't regret it. Mine was over 25 years ago and we never regretted it for a minute.
actually no scalpel for me. Kind of a marketing gimmick if you ask me - even though no scalpel (and no incision), they still puncture your sack with an ice pick type device. Ended up needing a couple of stitches on each side.
My name is Jack Crabbe. I danced with wolves. It dint affect me much. I et boiled dog.
Just had mine two months ago. Still bothers me a little, but if you take two weeks off and snug underwear you'll be alright.
