Graydon Morris of Texas qualified out of the South Region yesterday. This is very impressive and I am wondering if any other freshmen have ever qualified.

in 1995, not only did Jorge Torres qualify, but he was 13th at nats...his first of 4 visits to the national finals and all american finishes.
I was wondering if that was a mistake, since following the sport I couldn't ever remember a freshman boy making it, I think futsem made it as a sophmore? and that was really rare
What's even crazier is two more sophomores made it is the same race
Dude looks like a junior though
I was right the finish line and when he crossed I assumed he was a senior right off the bat tbh
Hunter, Ping and now this kid. Another amazing runner coached by Tinman... He is hands down the best coach who posts here...

Didn't Grace Ping run 5:02/10:32 before being coached by Tinman? As a 6th grader? That's completely ridiculous.
texas has some good freshman..... theres another kid from el paso, abyeta, who runs like a 1530 or somethings
Morris doesn't have the same coach as Hunter.

Jorge Torres
Pretty sure Andrew Gardner did
Footlockers has become much weaker over the past 8 years so this is not as impressive as it use to be.
Why do some people say "Footlockers"?
Is NXN called "Nikes"?

gardner was 31st at FLW as a freshman, so he is only a 3x guy.
The officials results on the FL website doesn't have grades listed for the first few years, but here is a complete list of freshman that I can discern.
1986: Cliff Dwelle 16th (15:25)
1995: Jorge Torres 13th (15:38)

If I'm remembering correctly Futsam Zenlassie (or however you spell it) qualified as a freshman and may have even been like 7th.

I missed one result.
2008: Futsum Zeinasellassie 7th (15:40)
I know you are talking about boys but two girls won the race as 9th graders (Davis, 93 and Hasay, 05).
Plenty of Freshman girls have qualified.......
25 since 2000, 12 of whom were all american, 1 who won (Jordan Hasay)....In fact, last year is the only FLN meet since 2000 that did not have a freshman qualify.
It is far more uncommon for a freshman boy to qualify.

I think there are errors in the 1986 results on the website.
19th-placer Bryan Dameworth of CA was a freshman, but is listed as a senior (he won in 1989 as a senior).
Also, I don't think Dwelle was a frosh that year.

Texas had like 5 finish in top 8 at Regionals. Unfortunately, Texas typically sucks at Footlocker.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Des Linden: "The entire sport" has changed since she first started running Boston.
Matt Choi was drinking beer halfway through the Boston Marathon
Ryan Eiler, 3rd American man at Boston, almost out of nowhere
