Legendary "UT" Track coach (he coached at both Texas and Tennessee) Stan Huntsmann died on Wednesday.

Texas remembers him:
He started his career at Ohio University and had some outstanding teams there prior to Tennessee and Texas. The Texas obituary says Ohio State which is incorrect.
Huntsman was a great guy. So much in fact that Beth Alford-Sullivan, in his honor, will cut two underclassmen scholarships without warning.
The confusion may have occurred because Huntsmann asked that his name be removed from the Ohio U. Hall of Fame when they dropped their men's track program.

You should add this to the front page.

The fact that the passing of Stan Huntsmann doesn't get any mention on the front page of this site just proves that the people that run it don't pay much attention to history.
Sam Bell died and was on the front page. Huntsmann was in the same status. And won both a Cross Country NCAA Championship and Track and Field Championship at Tennessee. 11 Individual NCAA Track Champions as head coach at Texas.
I don't know if he actually coached all those runners or just managed them with assistants doing the coaching but I do remember when he left Tennessee for Texas I got a call from him telling me to look at Tennessee. He was leaving for another job in the recruiting season and had some loyalty to the program he was leaving.
I never met him but I know he coached at Ohio University (even an NCAA 10k champion) and when they dropped Track and Field he demanded to be removed from their Hall of Fame that honored him.

I remember being incredibly proud of Coach Huntsman's move at that time. I had forgotten all about it until you just reminded me. Thanks. I will brag about it anyone who will listen. Pretty classy move.

I'm not sure why you are complaining this isn't on the front page. I did the homepage last night and put this thread as the #1 thread in the yellow box. So Huntsman's passing is basically the first thing you see when you come to the website - particularly on a mobile device.
I figured linking to a messageboard post would be best as people could share their remembrances of the man in it.
