Is weight the only concern? Does drop matter when racing? (Surprised that most race shoes aren't nearly zero drop... but, I am pretty ignorant on the subject.)

Least amount of shoe you can tolerate for the distance without being injured. Not much else to consider.
The shoe should fit the same as your training shoe except be a stripped down version.
Just buy the Nike Streak LT3 and you'll be all set.
