Are there any vendors usually at Footlocker Northeast? Looking for a shoe company that might be on-site that day.
My son is running one of the youth races and I'm having a hard time finding cross country spikes in my area.

what category? (age group)
new balance is the sponsor of fl this year so only chance will be them, but not sure if they will be allowed to sell in the park.
I bit the bullet and ordered some spikes online. Cost me way too much shipping and handling but I didn't want my son in his first cross country race to be racing in the muck in his trainers.
FYI, you will be in NYC, its a big city with lots of stores

And the running stores open at 10am in NYC. My son races at 1:40pm. Not driving all over NYC trying to find boys grade school size 3 racing spikes.
never try something new race day. you know this. he got there in trainers....race in what you know.
What I know is the course is going to be tore up after all the earlier races. And I also know my 9 year old country boy is going to take it to the city kids at VCP.

1000's of people have run over the course this season alone and it is not torn up very doubtful it will be sat. surface is going to be hard as a road race

Well I haven't raced there since 1994 so I may not be privy to all latest course conditions.
And as his father and coach, I want to set my athlete up to have the best race possible. I guess spikes or flats becomes a race day decision after we preview the course Saturday morning.

While it's good that you're entering him in races, at this age make sure you're not too intense. Keep it as lighthearted as possible, and I feel it's very important to make sure he's on a team or has other kids to run with. I've seen many kids who were complete stars at a young age end up crashing and burning in middle/high school because of too much intensity too early on, and they just lost their love in the sport.
At the end of the day, what he does at this age is not important at all. The real important achievements in running will be many years down the road, just keep that in mind.
